A supported ePortfolio route for advanced practitioners has launched yesterday.  It will enable the education and training of Advanced Practitioners to be recognised by the Centre for Advancing Practice and help individuals working in advanced practice roles to be supported in evidencing their advanced clinical practice. It will also give practitioners the opportunity to identify any gaps in their learning and to potentially be offered further learning opportunities to help close these gaps.

Successfully completing the ePortfolio process gives reassurance to employers, patients, carers, and families, that the Advanced Practitioner has had their education and training at an advanced level recognised.

Developing, retaining, and transforming the workforce through Advanced Practice is a strategic priority for the NHS. Advanced Practice offers many benefits to the NHS, patients and the community, putting a greater focus on prevention, holistic and personalised care, efficient teams, faster response to patient needs that all result in better patient care.

Advanced Practice is at the heart of new models of care and new ways of working in the NHS and staff can come from a range of professional backgrounds such as, pharmacy, paramedics, occupational therapy, healthcare science, nursing and more.

Richard Collier, Lead for the Centre for Advancing Practice said: “We are delighted to be launching the e-portfolio route today. Advanced Practitioners support multi-professional teams by providing clinical leadership and enabling collaboration that helps improve clinical continuity and provides high-quality care for patients.

The online application form for the e-portfolio route will be available via the Advanced Practice website from Monday 13th December 2021
