Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES)
The regional faculty are working on a new project looking at Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the ACP workforce across the region. It is vital that we are committed in having a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our communities / patients.
The main purpose of the project is to look at the current data across NHS organisations/Primary care/PIVO on the backgrounds of the trainees on the programme and also helping those ‘aspiring’ ACPs reach their goal. We are looking at increasing the number of trainees from BAME background on ACP programmes.
Race Equality within Advanced Practice Survey
The Northeast and Yorkshire Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice and University of Huddersfield would like to collect and explore data in regard to race and ethnicity within the Advanced Practice workforce with an aim to increase opportunities and improve experiences for BAME staff. Since 2015, The Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) has mandated NHS organisations to demonstrate progress against a number of indicators of workforce equality, including a specific indicator to address the low levels of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) representation at senior and board levels. This project is led by Charlotte Barker, who is currently undertaking a secondment with NEY HEE (Kindly hosted by University of Huddersfield). Ethical approval has been granted by the University of Huddersfield Ethics Committee. The survey is now closed.
Programme Accreditation
The Centre for Advancing Practice is in the process of accrediting advance level programmes in order to assure education quality across advanced practice and to provide practitioners with a route to recognition. The Northeast and Yorkshire Faculty for Advancing Practice is working collaboratively with the Centre to offer support and guidance to local universities who are considering applying for the accreditation process and those who are going through it. For more information on the accreditation criteria and process please visit the Centre for Advancing Practice’s website.
The programmes that are currently accredited in Northeast and Yorkshire can be found here:
