Maximising Our Impact to Reduce Health Inequalities
Reducing health inequalities is everyone’s business, but knowing how to translate insight into meaningful action can feel challenging.
Multi-professional advanced and consultant practitioners are uniquely positioned to drive improvements in equity through their clinical expertise, system leadership, education, and collaborative practice. However, many still lack the confidence, clarity, or practical tools needed to turn good intentions into measurable impact.
This free masterclass is designed to change that.
Join us for an inspiring and thought-provoking session that brings the realities of health inequalities to life. We will move beyond theory to explore what you can do, right now, within your scope of practice. This session will highlight practical examples showing how everyday decisions, behaviours, leadership actions, and systemwide influence can help narrow the gap.
Chaired by Professor Jamie Waterall, England’s Deputy Chief Public Health Nurse, this dynamic discussion brings together leading voices from across health and care, including Professor Habib Naqvi MBE, Dr Dianne Addei, Linda Hindle OBE, Claire Scothern, and Janine Ord.
Together, they will share insights, challenge assumptions, and offer actionable approaches that practitioners at all levels can apply within their own roles, services, and organisations. Whether you are delivering frontline care, shaping education, influencing pathways, or leading at system level, this session will support you to maximise your impact in reducing health inequalities.
Session objectives:
- Understand why reducing health inequalities is a responsibility shared across all health and care roles.
- Build confidence in identifying practical actions you can take to reduce inequalities in your day-to-day practice.
- Explore core principles that underpin effective and equitable health and care delivery.
- Learn from real-world examples demonstrating how individuals and teams are making a measurable impact.
- Reflect on how leadership, culture, and everyday decisions influence outcomes for underserved communities.
- Leave with actionable ideas you can apply immediately within your role, team, or organisation.

Shaping the future of Advanced Practice: The Power of Job Planning
This masterclass will introduce participants to the purpose and value of job planning within advanced practice, exploring how clear, structured activity planning can strengthen professional development, enhance service delivery, and align roles with the four pillars of advanced practice. Building on national guidance and emerging regional work, the session will open the conversation on how job planning can support a consistent, sustainable approach to developing the advanced practice workforce across diverse settings.
Drawing on insights from experienced experts, we will discuss how job planning can shape the training experience, supporting workplace learning, ensuring access to appropriate supervision, and improving preparedness for autonomous practice. Participants will explore real examples, early findings from trainee engagement work, and practical considerations for implementing job planning in ways that are meaningful, realistic, and adaptable to individual roles and organisational contexts.
The session will also consider job planning as a tool to help embed all four pillars – clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research – into everyday working patterns. Attendees will be guided through approaches such as weekly activity mapping, identifying opportunities for professional activities, and using job plans during appraisal and service development conversations. By the end, participants will feel more confident in how job planning can support professional growth, service quality, and future workforce planning in advanced practice.
