Multi-professional framework for advanced practice in England (2025): Launched!

We’re proud to announce the launch of the newly refreshed Multi-professional framework for advanced practice in England – a significant milestone in the evolution of advanced practice.
Developed through extensive collaboration and led by NHS England’s Centre for Advancing Practice, this updated framework reflects the dynamic needs of modern healthcare while upholding the highest standards of professional excellence.
What’s New in 2025?
The 2025 framework builds on the strong foundation of its predecessors while incorporating key updates that reflect the changing landscape:
- A fully reworked introduction for improved clarity and relevance
- Practical implementation resources to support adoption
- Inclusive language updates: from advanced clinical practice to advanced practice
- A strong emphasis on equality, diversity, and cultural competence
The refreshed framework is the result of extensive collaboration between healthcare professionals, educators, and key stakeholders. Guided by NHS England’s Centre for Advancing Practice, the Multi-professional framework for advanced practice has been designed to ensure alignment with the evolving demands of modern healthcare while maintaining the highest standards of practice.
“The Framework is a fundamental underpinning resource in both programme accreditation and practitioner recognition.”
